Zikaron Ba Salon

Memorial event for the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism

Zikaron Ba Salon (Remembrance in the Living Room) is a global initiative of Holocaust remembrance, where survivors or their descendants share their personal or family’s memory of the Holocaust

Ori is an Israeli living in Konstanz and a third‑generation descendant of Holocaust survivors. On 27 January 2026, the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of National Socialism, she will share her family’s story: Her grandmother from Hungary, deported to Auschwitz and surviving the worst; her grandfather, forced into labor, fleeing through the forests ahead of the advancing Soviets; her mother, who grew up in the shadow of nightmares and harrowing stories; and herself— who, at five, already knew what to grab if we had only minutes to flee.

It is the story of a childhood lived under that long shadow, of choosing to come to Germany to learn German, and of discovering that her closest friends are the grandchildren of Nazis. She offers this testimony today, amid rising antisemitism, racism, and xenophobia, to remember where hatred and discrimination have led.

Please join us for an hour of remembrance and conversation.
